Dr. Alan Sabrosky writes quickly in response to the Israeli attack, in
international waters, on the aid flotialla bound for Gaza.  The Israelis
confiscated food, oil trees, and medical supplies -- lethal items, no doubt,
in the hands of Palestinians!

Sabrosky's bio posted on shows that he has a Ph.D. from the
University of Michigan and

"is a writer and consultant specializing in national and international
security affairs. In December 1988, he received the Superior Civilian
Service Award after more than five years of service at the U.S. Army War
College as Director of Studies, Strategic Studies Institute, and holder of
the General of the Army Douglas MacArthur Chair of Research. ".

By Dr. Alan Sabrosky STAFF WRITER/Editor

Israel's attack on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla on America's Memorial Day
was all too predictable, although the form it took surprised even me. And it
confirms the old proverb that "Those whom the gods would destroy, they first
make mad," for the attack was the kind of madness only unbridled arrogance
can assume.

It wasn't just that foreigners as well as Palestinians, flying flags other
than that of Palestine, were attacked. Israel has a long history of doing
such things, especially to the UN. But except for the USS Liberty incident
in 1967, it has generally done that on inland sites - Gaza, the West Bank,
the Lebanon - where it can largely block news and visual evidence, and
control the spin it puts on events, counting on its friends in the US and
other mainstream media to say little or nothing to contradict them.

The Attack Reprised

Not this time. An attack on the open seas, in acknowledged international
waters, against unarmed ships carrying humanitarian aid with passengers and
crews from many countries - especially a direct attack against a Turkish
ship - is a different matter, and potentially an explosive one. The number
of shipboard casualties indicates that once fighting started, the Israeli
commandos simply sprayed automatic weapons fire into the people around them
- another of their long-standing habits.

And technology is their enemy here, just as it became in an earlier day the
enemy of communist regimes in the former Soviet Union and other Eastern
European countries. Too many images and videos were taken, and some sent,
and too many witnesses reported what was happening, before the Israelis were
able to suppress communications from their victims.

Bad for their victims, but also potentially very bad for Israel, and the
initial Israeli public-relations damage control efforts show that they are
at least dimly aware of that fact. Trying to cast the attack in
international waters as an exercise in self-defense would be ludicrous in
the best or worst of circumstances - has anyone ever seen wheelchairs used
as offensive weaponry?

And for the Israeli spokeswoman to try to spin an assault by warships and
armed commandos as defense against a "lynch" (I guess she was trying to push
an American "hot button" for Obama - someone should tell her it is
"lynching" or "lynch mob") would have embarrassed even her public relations
soulmate, Dr. Josef Goebbels. But desperate do what desperation dictates, I
suppose, although this time they may well have gone way too far.

A Judging, Long Overdue

And that is what the initial responses appear to affirm. All of the major
US and many other media outlets are carrying this story, and even with the
slant from many Jewish correspondents based in Jerusalem or Ashdod, the
bloody particulars are slowly coming through to at least a general American
audience for the first time:

           1.         The unarmed ships with unarmed passengers were
trying to ferry humanitarian and reconstruction aid to ravaged and embattled

          2.         Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza, probably if
not certainly in violation of international law, supported largely by US
vetoes in the UN Security Council.

          3.         Israeli warships and commandos intercepted and
attacked the aid flotilla in international waters -which is an act of war,
piracy or state terrorism, depending on one's view of the details.

          4.         Under attack, some of the passengers tried to defend
themselves, scores were killed or wounded, and some Israeli commandos were
also wounded - doubtless a surprise to them, but then their usual run of
victims may have made them a bit too cocky.

          5.         Many governments and publics around the world - not
only in Arab capitals - are openly outraged, and the discussion forums on US
news websites carrying the story suggest that much the same is happening at
a public level in this country.

          6.         But for Israel, this is just another "we are the
misunderstood victim" incident in a long, sordid and utterly unbelievable
litany of such things - except that this time, they may not get away with

Seizing the Moment

This is a time for those interested in justice for Palestine to seize the
moment and act, building on the promise engendered but not fulfilled after
the submission of the Goldstone Report to the HRC.

I would like to think that President Obama would take a stand, and perhaps
he will, but if he does it will be with words and not with deeds. Neither
the Congress nor Rahm Emanuel would let him do much more, whatever his
predisposition - and who knows, he may believe the "lynch" metaphor, or
pretend to do so.

Americans shouldn't bother with letters or emails to US Senators or
Representatives, or Obama; AIPAC will be there ahead of you with more
letters and money than you can generate. Go instead directly to the local
offices of US Senators and Representatives, stay until you speak personally
to the senior person there, and make your case as forcefully as you can.
Make sure as many people hear you as possible - but be polite, and leave
your signs at home.

For the world community, now is the time and this is the incident to drive
home the UN "Uniting for Peace" Resolution, in both the Security Council and
the General Assembly as needed. The nationalities of the victims will at
least neutralize many European countries that might have opposed it before.
Sanctions, embargoes, even the suspension or expulsion of Israel from the UN
itself, do as much as quickly and as forcefully as possible. Press the BDS
campaign everywhere hard.

And for the US armed forces, on this Memorial Day, it would be well to
reflect on the meaning of duty and service to country and people. Oaths of
allegiance, obedience and loyalty are important to professionals in the
armed forces, in or out of uniform. They were to me when I was in the
Marines, and later as a civilian at West Point and the Army War College. I'm
sure serving professionals today are no different.

But the elected and appointed civilians overseeing the armed services have
also taken their own oaths, and many have violated them by serving the
interests of Israel rather than the US itself, and especially by spending
American lives and treasure furthering Israeli interests rather than
safeguarding American ones. This, to me, is clearly treason, and utterly
negates any loyalty anyone else owes to them.

Remember that the cornerstone of our oaths is not to obedience, but to
"support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all
enemies, foreign and domestic." Think about it on this Memorial Day.

Hi Michael, finally got my Cabbala review together, more or less.  here 'tis.  Joe

We don't believe you anymore.... Are Anti-Semites born or made?

  May 31, 2010
  From JB

Are Anti-Semites born or made?

Nature or nurture?
Are non-Jews just born Anti-Semites?
Is Anti-Semitism a disease?
Can one catch it from Jews?
Could it be that Jewish actions and behaviour make anti-Semites?
Can a Jew be an Anti-Semite?
So what is an Anti-Semite?
One who hates Jews or one, the Jews hate?
How come it's only Anti-Semites who criticize Israel's actions off Gaza?
If a Gentile can be an Anti-Semite, can a Jew be an Anti-Gentile?
The predicted Zionist lie machine clanks into gear with the usual big lie boilerplate denials and fantastic stories. However, the new and encouraging development is that the public no longer buy this junk, as a quick scan of the comments section of online British newspapers show. (See url's below)
Here we see the Zionist organised, mass propaganda campaign to present the Israeli version of the news being slammed-red arrowed- by (I suspect) individual readers, suggesting a drying up of sympathy for Israel and a tendency to disbelieve or dismiss Zionist and even Jewish stories in an attitude reminiscent of that which used to prevail in Poland and Eastern Europeans who would often dismiss official pronouncements or accounts of events ranging from biblical stories to WW2 history and the Communist revolution as mere 'Jew talk'. The equivalent of the phrase 'Tell that to the Marines' or in the pre WW1 German phrase- 'Tell that to the Jew Moses' the natural mass reaction of a population become so sick and tired of being bombarded with lying crap that it comes to associate big lies with this racial group as a characteristic racial trait, as consistent and unvarying as say dark skin is of Africans, or slanty eyes in Chinese people.
It never ceases to amuse me that whilst the broad spectrum of society from 'liberals' and neocons through to Zionist Jews ostensibly reject any notion of racial characteristics where Jews and minorities are concerned, yet all these subscribe to the Zionist notion that all non Jews are infected by a sort of Anti Semitic virus which, unless treated by a 24 hour, birth to grave regime of psychological indoctrination, and via exclusion, isolation and imprisonment of severe cases, will suddenly spring up in the population and result in gas chambers and human soap factories.

This Jewish device to both medicalize and demonize Gentiles has a basis of presumed and accepted racial differences, since it is simultaneously maintained by its advocates that Jews are entirely free of this disease/ evil and have never, throughout all the thousands of years and in all the nations of the earth ever contributed to the Anti-Semitism that has repeatedly seen them thrown out.

The story is always that of 'Irrational Anti Semitism', 'Irrational racism'' or even of 'Satanic possession. Thus when as in England and in other European countries Jews loaned money to invader/ kings under an agreement that they thereafter were appointed tax collectors to impoverish and oppress the people and collect the profits from their investment, the staving Gentile peasants would revolt and throw the Jews out. Reason would regard this as an inevitable consequence of Jewish actions and behaviour, yet the current Ziolie attributes these events to 'Irrational Anti-Semitism and hate' in which the ragged victims of Jewish oppression are denounced as the perpetrators and their Jewish oppressors as innocent victims. In fact the Ziolie is so well established that even the very act of seeking out the true causes of 'Anti-Semitism' is now regarded as proof positive of the  researchers incurable Anti-Semitism and 'like-Hitlerism'.

Thus in the present horrible Jewish terrorism on the high seas and the previous slaughter in Gaza. Or as many Jew fanatics maintain-'Scratch any Gentile and you will find an Anti-Semite just below the surface.

In one case the Israeli army fired at the boat. In another she and others on the boat were held in an Israeli detention center. The US gov't did nothing to protest this treatment of a former US congresswoman.

Cynthia McKinney Mourns the Dead of the Freedom Flotilla to Gaza:
People of the U.S. and the world must end Israeli impunity now!
I am outraged at Israel's latest criminal act.  I mourn with my fellow Free Gaza travelers, the lives that have been lost by Israel's needless, senseless act against unarmed humanitarian activists.  But I'm even more outraged that once again, Israel's actions have been aided and abetted by a U.S. political class that has become corrupted beyond belief due to its reliance on Zionist campaign finance and penetration by Zionist zealots for whom no U.S. weapons system is too much for the Israeli war machine, and the silence of the world's onlookers whose hearts have grown cold with indifference.

I recently visited the offices of IHH, the Turkish humanitarian organization that sponsored one of the Freedom Flotilla boats, and that was targeted by the Israelis for its murderous rampage.  Reports are still coming in as to the full extent of the senseless Israeli violence.  Of course, I expect Israel's apologists in the press and in the United States government to shift into high gear to support Israel's lying machine.  Take note of their names.  The 12,000 internet squatte rs/written word grenade throwers, hired by the Israeli Foreign Ministry to defend Israel and attack peace activists online, are already busy spreading their orchestrated disinformation in cyberspace.  Be very careful what you read and believe from special interest press and the internet.  You could be reading one of Israel's hired hacks.  As a news diversion from what Israel has just done, I suspect that we can also expect to see a lot of historical footage of war's atrocities on television:  today is Memorial Day in the United States, a day long ago set aside to remember the sacrifices of U.S. war dead.

I encouraged and supported U.S.S. Liberty veteran Joe Meadors's participation in the Freedom Flotilla.  Unfortunately, the fate of the U.S.S. Liberty innocents on the high seas, while in international waters, has now been visited upon the participants in the Freedom Flotilla, in large measure because of the Congressional- and Presidential-level cover-up of the 1967 Israeli attack on that U.S. surveillance ship.  Combined with the failure of just about every other effort to hold Israel accountable for its crimes against humanity, war crimes, genocide, and crimes against the peace.  Belgium and Spain changed their domestic laws of universal jurisdiction after Israeli appeals to do so.  The entire musical chairs gang of rotating Israeli leadership are war criminals.  During my imprisonment in Israel for attempting to take crayons to the children of Gaza, I called Israel a failed state.  If Israel is threatened by unarmed, humanitarian activists to the point of massacring them, then Israel is a failed state.  Israel is a failed nuclear state.

Obama's most recent granting of an additional $205 million for Israeli "missile defense" is unconscionable, when in the same week, reports revealed for the first time, Israel's offer of nuclear weapons to apartheid South Africa.  Ju st last week, a paper bearing the signature of former Israeli Prime Minister, Shimon Peres, was released by South Africa, revealing that in 1975, Israel could offer South Africa nuclear weapons "in three sizes."  South Africa's then-Minister of Defense, P.W. Botha, was South Africa's signatory to the letter.  This information would make the entire Obama Administration look sadly farcical as it points an accusing finger at Iran, except that U.S. obeisance to the Israeli bloodthirst is deadly serious.  With deadly outcomes.

Earlier this month, Israel was granted admission to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), a direct affront to ongoing Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) efforts across the world.  Once again, Israel has thumbed its nose at the global community--with bloody results--because it can.

I am proud to serve on the Bertrand Russell Tribunal on Palestine.  Its next sitting will be in London, where w e will examine corporate complicity in Israel's crimes against Palestine.  The Tribunal will sit from November 5 - 7.  Please put this on your calendar.  We all must do what we can, where we are to end wars against the people at home and wars against human rights abroad.

Finally, a friend just sent a message to me saying that the Israelis had lost their minds.  Sadly, based on the past, the Israelis could very well conclude that they can do anything--imprison me for trying to take love to the children of Gaza and kill humanitarian activists trying to do the same--because they know, in the end, they'll get away with it.  Instead, I would suggest that we are the ones who have lost our minds, our souls, our spirits, and our human dignity if we allow the Israelis to get away with murder--again--and we do nothing.

I am calling on the people of the United States to change course now.

On this Memorial Day 2010, I am stunned a nd outraged beyond belief while mourning the dead of the Freedom Flotilla to Gaza.

All.: Un nouveau procès pour Günter Deckert

Günter Deckert, 70, faithful reporter of various German trials of revisionists, former president of the NPD (Nationaldemocratic Party of Germany), himself having served 5 years in prison for revisionism, reports that he will be the defendant in a new trial on July 28.

The offense is having served as an editor of the German translation of Carlo Mattogno's "Auschwitz: La prima gasazione" ("Auschwitz: die  erste Vergasung. Gerüchte und Wirklichkeit" - Auschwitz: the First Gassing. Rumor and Reality). On page 6 of the book Deckert stipulates that he does not share the theses and conclusions of the author.

Deckert believes that the evidence against him falls far short of showing the legally required dissemination to the general public, but that the authorities disregard legal niceties with people like him for public relations purposes.

Re: Israeli Butchery at Sea

  May 31, 2010

Hello Michael...There's only one country who can stop this butchery and murder and you know who that is. Has Barak Obama got the cajones to stop these atrocities by Israel ? I very much doubt it. Israel knows that whatever they do the United States will forgive them. If ever there was a more typical case of the tail wagging the dog then this is it. Whatever crimes Israel commits they know the billions of $$$$$$$ won't ever stop. Israel is the most terroristic state in the world today...They are hated and despised the world over not because they are Zionists...not because they are Jews simply because they are a bunch of unprincipled bastards and liars.

ISRAEL MURDERS AGAIN (in international waters) - a series of reports

11006 Veirs Mill Rd, STE L-15, PMB 298
Silver Spring, MD. 20902
Assalaamu Alaikum:
This is coming to our readers from Connecticut on the final day of the ICNA-MAS Convention. I regret having to report that the cause of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui never made it to any of the conventions main sessions. (More on this later, insha'Allah.)
It has come to my attention that once again Israel has blatantly, and murderously, violated clearly established international law and claimed a number of innocent lives in the process. What follows are a series of representative reports on the current crisis in the Middle East, along with info on a number of protest mobilizations currently underway.
In the struggle for peace thru justice,
El-Hajj Mauri' Saalakhan
Monday, May 31, 2010

As I write this piece the scale of the Israeli lethal slaughter at sea is yet to be clear. However we already know that at around 4am Gaza time, hundreds of IDF commandos stormed the Free Gaza international humanitarian fleet. We learn from the Arab press that at least 16 peace activists have been murdered and more than 50 were injured.  Once again it is devastatingly obvious that Israel is not trying to hide its true nature: an inhuman murderous collective  fuelled by a psychosis and driven by paranoia.

Live Stream from Turkish's IHH Mission to Gaza  (video of the deadly event)

Subject: Israel Attacks U.S. Ship In International Waters (again)

One boat in the aid convoy is flagged and registered in the United States. The ship is U.S. territory under maritime law, and the U.S. government is required to intervene if this "U.S. property" is attacked or illegally confiscated by Israeli authorities.

Peace activists aboard the Turkish ship, Mavi Marmara, with hundreds of aid workers and activists aboard, report that they have been attacked. At least 20 persons have been killed at last report and over 50 more wounded. Israeli commandos apparently lowered themselves onto the Mavi Marmara with ropes. Passengers range in age from 88 to a year old and include Christians, Muslims and Jews seeking to end the blockade.

Film footage from the vessel showed armed Israeli soldiers boarding the ship and helicopters flying overhead. Israelis shot indiscriminately into groups of sleeping civilians.

Technically speaking, Israel has committed an act of war against Turkey by attacking a ship sailing under the Turkish flag in international waters. Months ago when the mission was in the planning stages, Turkey predicted dire consequences should the Israels attack their ship. The Israeli ambassador was summoned to the Turkish foreign ministry Monday after the incident.

"The ambassador (Gabby Levy) was summoned to the foreign ministry. We will convey our reaction in the strongest terms," the diplomat said. Shortly afterwards, Israeli military censors ordered a block on all information regarding those injured or killed during the storming of the ship.

No weapons are onboard the humanitarian aid convoy. Gunfire was heard under the cover of darkness. Hundreds of elected officials, former diplomats, aid workers and activists, including a Nobel laureate and many European legislators, are with the flotilla, traveling by sea to Gaza to break Israel's blockade of the tiny strip of land.

Evidently they are witnessing Israel's brutality and murderous intentions first hand.  Israel is showing itself as a terrorist state, founded and established by acts of terrorism and sustained by state terrorism.

One boat in the aid convoy is flagged and registered in the United States. The ship is U.S. territory under maritime law, and the U.S. government is required to intervene if this "U.S. property" is attacked or illegally confiscated by Israeli authorities.

As of this writing, the attack is ongoing, the total dead and wounded will most likely increase.

Israelis supposedly took over the convoy. Waiting for international reaction...silence? excuses? glossing over? strong words with nothing to back it up? U.S. sending more weapons to Israel by federal express mail??

EUROPEAN UNION Brussels, 28 May 2010

Statement by the spokesperson of High Representative Catherine Ashton on the flotilla sailing to Gaza

The spokesperson of High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the Commission Catherine Ashton issued a following statement today:

"We strongly urge that all involved act with a sense of restraint and responsibility and work for a constructive resolution. The EU remains gravely concerned by the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The continued policy of closure is unacceptable and politically counterproductive. We would like to reiterate the EU's call for an immediate, sustained and unconditional opening of crossings for the flow of humanitarian aid, commercial goods and persons to and from Gaza."

Iran blasts Israeli raid on aid convoy
Mon, 31 May 2010 08:27:36 GMT
Saeed Jalili
The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council has vehemently condemned Israel's brutal attack on an aid convoy headed for Gaza, saying it shows the Israel's "sheer desperation."

"Under growing pressure from world public opinion, the criminal and terrorist Zionist regime has now resorted to maritime murder", said Saeed Jalili, dismissing the attack as "terrorist piracy."

He said such moves by the Israeli regime symbolize Tel Aviv and Washington's "60-year opposition to the freedom of nations".

"The behavior of the Israeli regime over the past year, particularly the terrorist act this morning, indicates Obama's peace plan was a deceptive move aiming to buy the Zionist regime time," added Jalili.

He said the Israeli attack on the Gaza aid flotilla is a test of will for all those who claim to be advocates of freedom and human rights.

"The US as well as the Zionist regime's regional and international sympathizers should be accountable to the world public opinion for supporting Tel Aviv," said Jalili.

Arab world condemns Gaza aid attack
Mon, 31 May 2010 08:37:56 GMT
Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa
The Arab world has united to condemn the Israeli forces' attack on a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian supplies to the besieged Gaza Strip.

Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa slammed the Monday's deadly raid against the humanitarian mission as a "crime."

"We condemn this crime, taken against a humanitarian mission and people. They were trying to help people. They were not on a military mission. Everyone should condemn this," Moussa told AFP. The AL chief said that the 22-member organization was now contemplating its "next step" against Israel.

Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas also termed the Israeli attack a "massacre," calling for a three-day strike in the West Bank, Press TV correspondent in Ramallah said. Abbas also warned that the lethal assault would jeopardize the US-sponsored indirect negotiations with Israel.

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri was also quick to slam the deadly Israeli raid as "dangerous and crazy", stressing that the action would only intensify tensions in the region.

"Lebanon firmly denounces this attack and calls on the international community, notably major powers... to take action in order to end this continued violation of human rights and threat to international peace," AFP quoted Hariri as saying.

Ibrahim Mousavi, the media spokesman for Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement, condemned the attack and offered sympathy to the families of the killed aid workers.

Meanwhile in Egypt, the opposition Muslim Brotherhood joined voice to slam the latest Israeli violence, urging President Hosni Mubarak to cut all Cairo-Tel Aviv ties. The movement also called on the Egyptian government to open the Rafah crossing.

Palestine's democratically elected Premier Ismail Haniyeh called on all supporters of the Palestinian cause to stage massive protests against Israel's "act of piracy," urging the Arab world to take "practical measures" to permanently end the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

At least 20 people were killed and 50 others injured when the Israeli navy stormed the Gaza Freedom Flotilla early on Monday. The convoy was intercepted in international waters, some 150km (90 miles) off the coast of Gaza.

Ahmadinejad slams Israel convoy attack
Mon, 31 May 2010 08:22:48 GMT
Iran has condemned Israel's deadly attack on a flotilla carrying thousands of tons of supplies for Gaza, calling the regime in Tel Aviv a threat to global peace and security.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rejected the notion on Monday that the Israeli raid on the Freedom Flotilla was indicative of Tel Aviv's military muscle, explaining further that it was a mere symbol of its weakness.

President Ahmadinejad said Israel was "fabricated not only with the aim of gaining control over the Middle East but also over the entire world."

Calling for international efforts to save the Palestinian nation, the Iranian president said, "Supporting the people of Palestine is equal to supporting peace and freedom of every nation."

In separate remarks, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili also blasted Israel for the deadly attack and called it a sign of Israeli weakness.

Jalili went on to say that the convoy raid proved US President Barack Obama's 'peace plan' for the Middle East as a "cheat."

Meanwhile, Spokesman for the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali described the fatal attack by Israel on the Gaza aid convoy a "war crime." Jalali also criticized Tel Aviv for being a "threat to global security."

The condemnations come after Israeli forces launched an early morning attack on the international aid fleet en route to the besieged Gaza Strip, killing at least 20 people and leaving scores injured.

EU demands inquiry into Israeli raid
Mon, 31 May 2010 08:50:47 GMT
Hours after the Israeli military attacked a Gaza-bound aid convoy, the European Union Foreign Policy chief calls for a full inquiry into the deaths of those on board the flotilla.

A spokesperson for the EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton expressed her regret on the loss of lives and use of violence as the news of Israel's attack on the Freedom Flotilla shook the world on Monday.

"On behalf of the European Union she demands a full inquiry about the circumstances in which this happened ... She calls for an immediate, sustained and unconditional opening of the crossing for the flow of humanitarian aid, commercial goods and persons to and from Gaza," Reuters reported the EU official as saying.

The condemnation came after Israeli forces launched an early morning attack on the international aid fleet en route to the besieged Gaza Strip.

According to the al-Aqsa TV channel, at least 20 people were killed in the attack and more than 50 others were wounded. Nine Turkish nationals were reportedly among those dead.

Amid public outrage over the Israeli act of violence, the Arab League, Turkey, and Iran were among the first to condemn the attack.

Palestine's democratically elected Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh also called on Arab leaders to take practical steps to end the siege on Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, as part of a global reaction to the deadly attack, Turkey, Sweden, Greece, and Spain summoned Israeli envoys to Ankara, Stockholm, Athens, and Madrid.

Emergency Rally Monday in NYC, May 31, 3 pm, 47th Street & 7th Avenue

Follow-up Rally Tuesday, June 1 , 5pm, 42nd Street & 2nd Avenue

Israeli Forces Murder Human Rights Activists and Injure Scores More, New Yorkers plan street action and demand immediate freeze of aid to Israel.

On Memorial Day, as Americans mourn the loss of lives in our nation's wars, people in the US and around the world will be mourning and rallying against the assassination of human rights activists killed by Israeli snipers with bullets paid for by US tax dollars. While reports continue to stream in so far, ten activists are reported dead with over fifty wounded by the Israeli Military takeover of the ships early Monday morning.

The killed and wounded were members of a humanitarian aid convoy bound for the Palestinian Gaza strip sailing under the name of the Free Gaza Flotilla. The Flotilla which comprises over 700 people from 40 countries was in international waters when the Israeli
Military forces boarded and began shooting passengers.

Initially, the flotilla was surrounded by 14 Israeli warships as Israeli military helicopters hovered above. In a calculated military operation, Israeli soldiers then roped down onto the boats and began shooting. Live footage from one of the boats reveals the Israeli soldiers were heavily masked and carrying live ammunition which they used on the unarmed passengers. None of the passengers or activists were armed.

The Israeli government in recent days announced its intention to prevent the Humanitarian Aid Flotilla from reaching the Palestinian shores of Gaza. Tonight, Israeli officials stated that Israeli Armed Forces opened fire because the boats refused to dock in the Israeli
port of Ashdod.

Flotilla organizers have pointed out that on all prior occasions when the Israelis made this demand, the Israelis seized and refused to release the aid supplies. The organizers support their position by noting that the point of their trip is the long standing Israeli
siege of Gaza which prevents Palestinians in Gaza from accessing the most basic food and medical items.

Protests have already broken out around the world. Huge numbers in Ankara and Istanbul have been demonstrating all day Sunday, and after news of the Israeli military operation leaked, the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul was occupied by Turkish activists enraged at the sniper operation.

A wide coalition of activists, including Al-Awda NY and the Gaza Freedom March, are calling for rallies in NY tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday . Organizers are asking people to call the State Department and your Congressional representatives to demand that all aid to Israel, military and economic, be cut off.

Sheikh Raed Salah seriously injured in the IOF assault on Freedom Flotilla
[ 31/05/2010 - 07:53 AM ]

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Sheikh Raed Salah, the leader of the Islamic movement in the 1948 occupied Palestinian lands, was seriously injured in the Israeli occupation forces' (IOF) assault on the Freedom Flotilla at dawn Monday, Hebrew media reported.

The Hebrew radio said that the IOF attack killed 16 solidarity activists and wounded about 60 others.

Sheikh Kamal Al-Khatib, the deputy leader of the Islamic movement, charged the IOA with attempting to assassinate Sheikh Salah, making use of the attack on the flotilla as an excuse.

The IOF used live bullets and teargas bombs in the attack on the ships carrying hundreds of solidarity activists and thousands of tons of medical aid and other relief material to the besieged people of Gaza.

Washington, DC, area protests

Israeli criminal navy attacks humanitarian ships in international waters. Reports of 10-16 humanitarian activists killed and 50-60 injured.  Ships taken to Haifa to avoid press at Ashdod.

By now you have probably heard of this atrocity. CodePink, WIAMEP, DCMetroBDS, ANSWER, ISM, and others are asking all who can to assemble at the Israeli Embassy, 3514 International Drive NW  (VAN NESS METRO STOP) at 3pm TODAY, moving to the White House at 5pm.  If you can join either of both of these protests, please assemble with us.

(On board were Ambassador Edward Peck from Chevy Chase, Huwaida from DC, Col. Ann Wright, and an elderly Holocaust survivor). We have a communication blackout on how they are doing.  One of the ships was an American flagship.)

Use Memorial Day to memorialize all the brave activists, show our outrage, and let the world know we are not sleeping!
