Re: Repeating Nazi Propaganda, From Kurt Vonnegut to NPR

Nazi propaganda? This is more like zionist propaganda.

Many if not most of the Dresden victims were Eastern ethnic German refugees, escaping the murderous, raping, looting hordes of the Red Army, the Eastern partner in war and plunder, who were following the exhortations of Illya Ehlenburg, the jewish writer and Stalin favorite to "take the blond bitch and kill the men".

Literally, every public space in Dresden was occupied by refugees, seeking shelter in the middle of Central Europe's harsh winter.

Further, Dresden had no anti-aircraft defenses, for these had been moved out of the city to protect other more likely targets of air raid. There was nothing of military value in Dresden. There was only art. Some of the very best art Western Civilization has created was in the museums, palaces and churches of Dresden.

But what is art to the likes of Churchill, Eisenhower, Harris and kindred troglodytes?

Much of that art was lost forever to mankind.

The Western Allies incinerated up to 300,000 human beings in Dresden alone, without the benefit of David Irving's account. However, David Irving is probably the only reliable historian when it comes to anything approaching that third rail of Hitler and his "demons" *

As a parallel to the destruction of Dresden, the city of Hamburg was also destroyed in firestorms (50% of the housing destroyed). But this destruction cannot equal the magnitude of the destruction of Dresden in human terms.

Battle of Hamburg

The Battle of Hamburg, codenamed Operation Gomorrah, was a campaign of air raids beginning 24 July 1943 for 8 days and 7 nights. It was at the time the heaviest assault in the history of aerial warfare and was later called the Hiroshima of Germany by British officials.[3]

The Battle of Hamburg overlapped the Battle of the Ruhr which ended on 31 July.[citation needed] The operation was conducted by RAF Bomber Command (including RCAF Squadrons) and the USAAF Eighth Air Force. The British conducted the night raids and the USAAF conducted the daylight raids.

On 24 July, at approximately 00:57AM, the first bombing started by the RAF and lasted almost an hour. A second daylight raid by US Army Air Force was conducted at 4:40PM. A third raid was conducted on the morning of the 26th. The night attack of 26 July at 00:20AM was extremely light due to a severe thunderstorm and high winds over the North Sea during which a considerable number of bombers jettisoned the explosive part of their bomb loads (retaining just the incendiaries) with only two bomb drops reported. That attack is often not counted when the total number of Operation Gomorrah attacks is given. There was no day raid on the 27th.

On the night of 27 July, shortly before midnight, 739 aircraft attacked Hamburg.[4] The unusually dry and warm weather, the concentration of the bombing in one area, and firefighting limitations due to Blockbuster bombs used in the early part of the raid culminated in the so-called "Feuersturm" (firestorm). The tornadic fire created a huge inferno with winds of up to 240 km/h (150 mph )reaching temperatures of 800 °C (1,500 °F) and altitudes in excess of 1,000 feet, incinerating more than eight square miles (21 km²) of the city. Asphalt streets burst into flame, and fuel oil from damaged and destroyed ships, barges, and storage tanks spilled into the waters of the canals and the harbor caused it to ignite as well. The majority of deaths attributed to Operation 'Gomorrah' occurred on this night. A large number of those killed died seeking safety in bomb shelters and cellars, the firestorm consuming all available oxygen in the burning city above. The furious winds created by the firestorm had the power to sweep people up off the streets like dry leaves:

Some people who tried to walk along, they were pulled in by the fire, they all of the sudden disappeared right in front of you (...) You have to save yourself or try go get as far away from the fire, because the draught pulls you in.[5]

On the night of 29 July, Hamburg was again attacked by over 700 aircraft. The last raid of Operation Gomorrah was conducted on 3 August.

Operation Gomorrah killed 42,600 people and left 37,000 wounded. Some one million German civilians fled the city. The city's labour force was reduced permanently by ten percent.[6] Approximately 3,000 aircraft were deployed, 9,000 tons of bombs were dropped, and over 250,000 homes and houses were destroyed. No subsequent city raid shook Germany as did that on Hamburg; documents show that German officials were thoroughly alarmed, and there is some indication from later Allied interrogations of Nazi officials that Hitler stated that further raids of similar weight would force Germany out of the war. The industrial losses were severe. Hamburg never recovered to full production, only doing so in essential armaments industries (which a maximum effort was made).[7] Figures given by German sources indicate, 183 large factories were destroyed out of 524 in the city, 4,118 smaller factories out of 9,068 were destroyed. Other losses included 580 industrial concerns and armaments works, 299 of which were important enough to be listed by name, were either destroyed or damaged. Local transport systems were completely disrupted and did not return to normal for some time. Dwellings destroyed amounted to 214,350 destroyed out of 414,500.[8] Hamburg was hit by air raids another 69 times before the end of World War II.

But it is better documented, since it did not fall behind the Iron Curtain at the end of the war. It was only then that the Western "statesmen" realized the kind of bargain they had entered into with the Communist demon.

After the Dresden firestorm, rescue and relief efforts were assigned to the Waffen SS, since there was no civilian infrastructure left to deal with the victims and the aftermath.

Corpses of those that had not been turned to ashes were recovered and attempts were made to identify them before burial.

After 4 or 5 days, only 38,000 victims had been positively identified. Many more could not be identified since it was not easy to identify carbonized or partly carbonized human remains given the extreme conditions extant.

At that point and for sanitary reasons, it was decided to cremate all remains. And Anglo-American propaganda used that 38,000 number for many years, in order to trivialize the pointless atrocity.

Eventually, the post-war German colonial administration has yielded to Western nudging to revise this number even further. So now the official number stands in the 25,000 range. This number has become the equivalent of the more notorious 6,000,000. An unassailable historical diktat, which questioning no doubt soon will be likewise criminalized.

Incidentally, not too many years ago, Queen Elizabeth of England decided to visit Dresden (for whatever reason). Many citizens of Dresden were not happy about her visit because the previous year the queen has participated in a ceremony honoring bomber Harris and unveiled his bronze statue. Had Britain lost the war, Harris would have hung next to Churchill in some prison basement, but since Britain "won" the war, the butcher is honored with a bronze statue. The queen was pelted with eggs.

Dresden resident and diarist Victor Klemperer (his diary published as: "I Will Bear Witness....") touches upon some aspects of the firestorm. He does not dwell on the firestorm per se because the purpose of his diary was to document the survival of a Jew (himself) in Nazi Germany without being deported to a concentration camp. In fact he confides to his diary that only a bombing of the city would help him survive a rumored threat of removal of remaining Jews to a concentration camp.

Fortunately, he lived too far from the center of Dresden (on the other side of the river Elbe) and thus escaped incineration.

This fragment from Klemperer's diary touches on the firestorm where his wife, relieved at their survival and wanting to light a cigarette and finding not matches, tries to pick up a glowing ember only to realize that is was a burning corpse.

<<

Once, as she was searching, she had wanted to light a cigarette and had had no matches, something was glowing on the ground, she wanted to use it -- it was a burning corpse. On the whole, Eva had kept her head much better than I, observed much more calmly and gone her own way, even though pieces of wood from a window had struck her head as she was climbing out. (Fortunately, the skull was thick and she was unharmed.) The difference: She acted and observed, I followed my instincts, other people saw nothing at all. So now it was Wednesday morning, the 14th of February and our lives were saved and we were together.

Talk about revisionism.
